Being an IT Professional I am just representing my own views based on my Own experience in the IT industry.
It is simple Supply and Demand ratio which has lead the industry to the level it is.
If we consider the future scope of IT industry then certainly there is no stopping in near future.
Lots of derived & new technologies are coming in & making their presence felt in the industry like MOSS 2007 & Silverlights from Microsoft (you can name many such, this is just for example).
Even the Corporates in the developing countries also understand the importance of IT industry & the role it can play towards the betterment of the Human life & become more civilized.
This topic is one of those which are never ending but to start of I dont have much to say than this
